My Flaming Red Orpington Roo - New Photos pg 11

I know, I feel awful, because it was just several days before you started talking about this project. I could have even delivered them since I'll be in VA in october.

I had eggs hatch today.

I sure hope some of these babies are pullets!

MP I was wondering how many eggs you set, how many hatched, and how many were the red? Also what did the other red one turn out to be, any ideas yet? Thanks

I only have a couple girls laying now. It is so hot here.

And I have 2 that are molting.

I set them in batches of 3 or 4. This way I know the eggs are super fresh and have the best chance of hatching.

In this batch 1 never developed and 2 hatched. In the last batch all 3 hatched.

None of them are as red as Red. That is why I need some of these to be pullets to breed back to him.

Thats fantastic! They're so CUTE!

if I may ask a question... I noticed that Red is well REALLY red, not like Red Orp pics I've seen.. actually he looks RED more like a tropical bird almost, it's very cool. Are you trying for keeping his bright red, or will you eventually look to tone it down? (unless I'm seeing something crazy on my monitor here

He is flaming red and I love it. I am hoping to duplicate his color. The deep red red orps are not recognized by the APA in the US. He does not fit the standard for the UK either. LOL

He is what I am calling an "Old Dominion Orpington" .

I hope one day to have a pasture full of flaming red orps.
