My Flock Journey

Pics
Hi Everyone,
I have 8 Australorp chicks that I purchased at 2 weeks old. They are now 29 days old. I will be posting my journey here. As we just moved to 10 acres and will be letting our chickens free range. And may need advice on the journey ahead.
Hope to hear from you all.
I almost lost chickens twice a week ago to a hawk... It was horrifying. I am still letting them FR but have hung silver pie plates all over my backyard and will be adding some pallets along the fence line for addition hiding places for them. They are just happier when they are out and their quality of life I think is worth the chance but I am afraid daily that I might lose one. I live in a suburban area and can only have a limited number of chickens.

We can have a lot of chickens if we wanted but the coop I have is rated to 8 so ive capped mine at 8 until I get another coop or build a big one.

My goal is for my chickens to free range. Like you were saying they are happier. At the moment I want to put a better fence up on the coop side before my chicks grow up.

Ive been inactive :lau.
I free range as well and wanted to say that you're doing a great job. I personally haven't had the exact same troubles as you BUT my neighbors dog is started to go out more lately out of their property and he is not chicken friendly.
I hope all your chicks are doing fine and Hazel is happy:).

I understand maybe try planting or having dense bushes or something?

I was wondering how your going.
My chicks are going really well. We had them out today and Hazel was with them so she is slowly getting usto them. Hazel is amazing with everyone. She lets my nieces pick her up for cuddles too.
Hows your flock going?
