So, I have about 50 birds. I have my silkies separate from the rest. I’m graduating beauty school and I have one little silky bantam hen that I just love, so I wanted to take her in for my graduation. Brought her in, bathed her in dawn dishsoap, and as I was blow drying her, I noticed a decent amount of (I think dead because they weren’t moving at all) lice. I’m assuming all of my chickens have it because their pens are side by side. How do I get rid of the lice fast?

I use this natural spray on my chickens and it kills all lice/mites in 24 hours

Do your chickens get to dust bathe. If they don't go out on the ground give them pans with dirt in them. If they are badly infested maybe you have to use poison, but dust bathing is the natural way that chickens keep parasites under control.

https://www.backyardchickencoops.com.au/dust-bathing-an-all-important-ritual This article recommends additions to the dust bath but ours do just fine with just dirt. Its the most natural way IMO. We think as humans we have to do nature one better all the time, but nature was doing things fine long before humans walked on the earth.

Our chickens have 1/4 acre. They create depressions to dust bathe and sometimes hassle each other over the favored spots. They are programmed to want to do it...even chicks a few days old will dust bathe. When animals get to follow their natural programs they "feel good". That's the carrot that drives the behavior.
