My flock was fine this morning, this afternoon they are dying!

I have 3 new chick coming sometime in June already. My husband totally just told me he didn't want anymore chickens after this though. My heart is just breaking for my kids. My 3.5 year old is a flipping chicken whisperer. She sat next to the brooder and sang to them when they were downy little peeps and now they followed her like she was the Pied Piper.

Don't give up on them their worth it trust me. If it is a pesticide problem I would move the coop and pin to some other part of your yard, and start a garden where they once were as they fertilized the area with their poo

The last chicken, Penny, still seems perfectly fine but she's crooning. Poor bird isn't meant to be alone!

Yes please try again! It's so worth it in the long run to keep chickens. You can give corid in the water for the remaining pullet just in case it is coccidiosis. I don't remember instructions but you could search online to check the possibility.

I talked to our neighbor and his chickens are fine... But I suspect even more that he put something on his yard. The questions he asked and the way he asked him seemed very much like he felt guilty. I'm truly not mad, sad, but it was and honest mistake and I just want to rule things out before we bring new birds in...

@Aber Bummer! If that's the case, and if he really does feel bad, then maybe you have resolved any future issues. It was probably a very unfortunate "oops". Depending on the wind, sprayed chemicals can travel pretty well. Spreaders can sling granules pretty far too.

I'm very sorry for your losses, this is heartbreaking.

That's what I was thinking too. I went the route of just being concerned for his flock that maybe something was in the environment or some nearby farmer was spraying so it didn't sound like I was pointing fingers. If he did spread something for bugs I'd really like it if he did let us know just to have closure and know for sure what we are dealing with so we know if it is a safe place for chickens or if we're dealing with some horrible malady.
