My fully loaded chicken coop video

Wow! You certainly are a "techy' with the great home solar panels and automatic pop door!! Your set-up has alot of thought and is very nice. I agree with the comments that your coop could use additional vents. Even during the coldest of days, my coop always has vents and slots open up under the roof line to let out moist air and to ventilate. Two pop doors are also always open to a secure run. I close the upwind vents to ensure that no cold drafts are on the birds. I have removable panels on the coop to give alot of open air for the Summer months. If you are concerned with the really cold nights then I would add an infrared lamp down behind your water heater and let air vent up and out of the coop. Many in this forum are against heat but my coops are large and I add brooder lamps for a warm zone choice for the birds during a couple of the Winter months. Your coop looks undersized for over 10 birds in my opinion but you do have smaller birds. You can add paver stones at the coop door ground entrance to knock down mud holes from forming. Great video and a great set-up!!!

We have 17 birds. I did add another roosting bar so everyone is off the ground and appear to be comfortable. I actually think they prefer to be nesting close to one another. Obviously, they are only in there at night, so they have plenty of space during the day.

What do you think the bird to coop size ratio should be? Or is a bird/foot of roosting bar ratio?
Yes I think the bird/1foot of bar is the general rule and 4 sf/bird of floor space. I am not sure of the size of you coop so you may be OK. Birds have a "pecking order" and the birds at the bottom of this order appreciate plenty of room. This is why I create ALOT of coop space per bird and plenty of roosting locations. I think that your design is well thought out! I would for sure cut some rectangle holes to serve as vents that you can open or close. My coop is no way as nice as yours but the below picture shows a vent with flap board. It can be wired open or closed or made to angle open. If your run is secure then you could even leave the pop door open for ventilation during the warm seasons.

Before you start, yes I know is not the same as a big rectangle. However, I installed several of these and they are at the highest point of the roof, plus I have the windows. My thought is during the winter with the door open and the windows cracked I'll have plenty of upward air flow. The holes are 4" in diameter. In the summer, I'll have both windows wide open.
