my g-pa or g-ma let my rabbits out when i told her not too!!!! help!!

A quick search online gave me these. All of them mentioned to much pelleted feed will cause a rabbit to become overweight. I liked the breakdowns on the second site.

Here is a site by Drs Fosters and Smith

This site really breaks it down

ETA: If you have the cage down to where they can get into it they should go back because that is where they feel safe.

thanks everyone. i think me and nanny are going to have a little sit down. haha. i will make sure to tell her bout getting fat, and disease and feeding 1nce a day. thanks for everyones support. i dont have a cage on the ground. its 3 foot off the ground.

You should have kept the mom and babies caged. Whether the cage was crowded or not. i wouldn't blame the grandma for that one. Sorry, but letting a doe and her litter out like that is irresponsible. Chances are something has probably got som eof them by now. Does don't teach their babies what to stay away from. Esp domestic rabbits since they have very little survival instinct that ells them what predators to aviod. Plus they can't run, or get away like a wild rabbit could.

Explain it to her that rabbits do not need feed in front of them at all times. Take her out with you when it comes to chore time, and show her that you have been feeding them, how much, etc. Prove to er that you are being responsible for them.

In a way I can feel your pain. When I was young my dad turned loose a bunch of my chickens one time because 'they ran out of water.' It was a hen and her babies. I was in chigao for a school trip at the time. He was supposed to take care f them for me. The hen had kicked some dirt up into the waterer, making it look like they had no water. So instead of using logic, and cleaning the thing, he got mad, and flipped the cage up onto its side. I wasn't able to catch any of them till the next day. If I remember right something killed some of the babies. I was mad at him. He didn't seem to care because apparently I 'wasn't taking care of them.'

When my parents threw my cockatiel out when I misbehaved I did what Barb suggested, I got padlocks, and kept the keys with me. I got him back because I ran out after him. An adult should NEVER use an animal/pet to get a child/kid to do anything period, becuase in the end the animal is the one that suffers, not the kid- well yea the kid too, but more damage is done to the animal.

I'm sure there's more to the story but I'm frankly appalled at anyone who turns a domestic prey animal like a rabbit loose. I hope you're able to get them back safe and sound, because the odds out there aren't good for them. Shame on your grandparents.

Rabbits, other than nursing mothers, do not need feed in front of the 24/7. I think something like a tuna fish can full is enough for a buck. Don't know where I put my rabbit book so I can't look it up.
