Hmm than maybe it is the ganders causing them bruises. Oh inside it is not pretty lol. She's still molting, I'm surprised she isn't bald yet haha. I know Cheese molted after the dog attack when her feathers started to come in. So I'm assuming that's what caused it, is her feathers coming back in.

Hopefully she'll grow new feathers, she would have to have a coat other wise. do you knit?

All the feathers and dander can cause quite a mess, i have a Chicken in my back bedroom right now trying to keep her on the cool side while treating her feet for what we think maybe bumble. she'll be inside for at least 5 days while on antibiotic and hopefully gets her chick shoes. What we won't do for our feathered friends.

Yep my big Brahma hen is in my back bedroom with her feet wrapped and I have given her a bit of space so she doesn't have to spend her whole time inside her crate. I have to feed her by hand though she won't eat other wise. silly girl,

Aww Muscovy, I watch my ducks closely for over breeding, so far it hasn't happened here, but I now have another drake from last years hatch so will have to keep an eye on things. Them boys can be rough.

I only keep one drake with my ducks. He has 9 gals.....if he can catch them! As the drakes grow I find them new homes...usually to wander around someone else´s patch, sometimes to go on the table. My neighbour´s duck comes over to the fence and tries to fight with my drake through the fence, then the goose patrol squad go and sort them out!

their own eggs or buy some in? Or both? You could always let her lay some, get half-a-dozen bought in, mark them, and then you´ll know if Sam´s up to it or not...and if not, then the bought eggs should hatch, at least Missy would have some goslings.

Lol she would look so cute with a little coat. There isn't quite as many feathers now so I think she's almost done molting. I've been taking her food and water away at night to try to speed up the process. I read somewhere that doing that will make them molt faster. Oh poor chicky, hopefully she heals up nicely with no complications. Oh I know, if only they realized what we put ourselves through for them sometimes. Amelia's wings are both healing up very nicely and are growing little feathers on both. When do geese start mating? I know mating season should be soon but about when? I was thinking more like February maybe.

Glad to hear things are improving for you there.

Geese normally start their breeding season as the days get longer, but it also depends on where you are. It seems generally anywhere between December and April, although there are lots of exceptions, reading these threads!

Have you managed to do a separate area for your geese yet?

Hmm well since its still so cold here I'm assuming they will be waiting a bit longer. No yet I'm waiting for the January thaw that we usually have. We still have a lot of snow.

Oh you poor things...

Most of my friends here say they´d love to live in a place that had snow and touch it, etc...I tell them that after half-an-hour they´d be ready to come back home to Brazil again! I can´t imagine how they´d be after weeks of it!
