my gander is bleeding from his leg help please

I haven't put her outside just yet. Probably before I bed I will, since she flies over the puppy pen she is in. I'd hate for her to do that at night and run around the house. I don't but I'll be in town tomorrow I'll make sure to pick some up. No way it was a pred they haven't been out of their coop or penned area in a week or so. And get locked in the coop around 4pm every day. The neighbor said they saw afox one morning hanging around and I am extra cautious now. My uncle could put a trap out to catch it but he'd have to use a leg one and I don't need that laying around and have my dog or god forbid my cat step in it. I already almost lost my cat once to a trap so if its not a live trap I can't do it.
Those traps aren't humane either I don't think, well good to know it couldn't have been a pred. might want to look at your fencing to see if there's a piece sticking out she may have rubbed up against something in there. This time of year preds are hungry every time my dogs run out barking I head out too just to make sure everything is good. We had a Red tail swoop in and kill one of my bantam hens a couple weeks ago, still trying to figure out how the hawk flew into the area where it got my hen it's pretty tight there with the wood shed and fence and trees but I saw it take off so I know it was a hawk.

Hmm I'll have to check just in case. I don't think it could of been the fencing but I'll double check. Better to be safe than sorry. I go and check every time my dog barks too. Most of the time its nothing but I'd rather check. Oh wow so sorry to hear that. Hawks sure are nasty things.

I admire them from afar but not when they go after my flock. I put up reflective tape hopefully it will help deter them.

I'm surprised they even interested in your flock with your geese around. I had one who was very interested in my ducks on his way through each day but once my geese matured he doesn't pay much attention anymore.

My geese were huddled all together with the ducks chickens hiding in various places. I wish I knew what happened but I only saw the hawk fly off didn't see where it came from or who was out in this part of the yard when it flew in so all I saw was terrified ducks and geese. I'm not sure if my geese would stand up to a hawk. Today my dominant drake[Muscovy] was standing on top of my gander chewing on his neck and my gander was just laying there being submissive.

Hmm very weird. Oh wow very weird indeed, my ganders would never allow that the big bullies. Well I hope the reflective tape works for you.

Thanks, you know there was a time when Sam my gander was a fighter I had to keep him and my oldest drake separated because they would get into some humdingers, but Ernie is going on 10 and Sam is going on 7 and even though he is still a bully to everyone else he is terrified of Opie my dominant Drake, Opie will be 3 this coming year and has always exerted himself as the dominant one, so Sam lets him. At least no blood shed.

That is so cute. A ducky drake dominant over a gander. That must be something to see. I can't even imagine what it would be like since my geese are such big bullies. Yes at least there is no blood shed. That's always a plus. I wish it could be like that here. Seems like if its not one its another. And poor Cheese gets the most of it. I tell my mom all the time she must of been very bad in a past life.

Well we still have breeding season to go through and it's always up in the air how that's going to go, last year Sam and Opie got into a few scuffles with Opie always on top, I'd go out and remove Opie off of Sam, this year we have a new young drake hatched this past May, I have a feeling it's going to be interesting to say the least. How's are your ducklings that you hatched doing? did you keep them sell them? Poor Cheese you know they pick up on things that are not the norm and that maybe why she always ends up being singled out.

I'm dreading breeding season. Opie is just a tough guy lol. Poor Sam I'm sure that must mess with his ego.I wonder how Missy feels when that happens? My dog Causey (that had attacked Cheese) ended up getting into the puppy pen and killing them all when I had gone to work one night. My bf was gone to a friends and called me at like 2 in the morning and told me about it. I was so sick to my stomach about it I ended up getting sick and left work early. Then a few hours after I had got home I brought the dogs out and went to chain him up and Imust not of hooked him all the way or something and he got loose. My Amish neighbors ended up shooting him. It was the worst day ever. It was back on Halloween that happened. That's what I think keeps happening too. She doesn't even walk normal so I think that's why she gets picked on is because she is so different.
