Those traps aren't humane either I don't think, well good to know it couldn't have been a pred. might want to look at your fencing to see if there's a piece sticking out she may have rubbed up against something in there. This time of year preds are hungry every time my dogs run out barking I head out too just to make sure everything is good. We had a Red tail swoop in and kill one of my bantam hens a couple weeks ago, still trying to figure out how the hawk flew into the area where it got my hen it's pretty tight there with the wood shed and fence and trees but I saw it take off so I know it was a hawk.I haven't put her outside just yet. Probably before I bed I will, since she flies over the puppy pen she is in. I'd hate for her to do that at night and run around the house. I don't but I'll be in town tomorrow I'll make sure to pick some up. No way it was a pred they haven't been out of their coop or penned area in a week or so. And get locked in the coop around 4pm every day. The neighbor said they saw afox one morning hanging around and I am extra cautious now. My uncle could put a trap out to catch it but he'd have to use a leg one and I don't need that laying around and have my dog or god forbid my cat step in it. I already almost lost my cat once to a trap so if its not a live trap I can't do it.
