My Geese are bullys!!

First years lay smaller and less then second years and 3rd years and onwards lay the normal shaped eggs (2nd years also but lay less)and lay a lot more

Some are fine, others aren´t. it depends on the ganders. If they managed to get a dominance sorted out, then they may be fine. The problem may arise at breeding time, when neither of them wants to be the 'female' and a fight can start. But not all will. If there´s one female, they´re far more likely to fight. Maybe wait until next year, and if they start to fight, get a couple of females for them?
Nice for the ducks that the gander´s visually impared, poor thing. Drakes are far more of a handful than ganders.

Thanks! Yes, I was happy that the visually impaired duck is the boy, I would feel very sorry for them if it was the other way around! Do I need to worry about the ganders mating the ducks? That's my main concern. They are only 8 weeks old now, so I guess I don't know if it will stay this way, but one of the geese is very, very, relaxed and lets the ducks steal his food, etc. So if he stays this way I don't think we will need to worry about dominance issues.

I´ve never had a gander try to mate a duck, but then they do have lots of females for themselves.
Some BYCers have had ganders mate ducks with no problems, others reckon their ganders killed their ducks by drowning....

Thanks Serv!! I really appreciate everyone's help, Geese are fully integrated with the flock of chickens and Turkeys and doing so good we took down the fencing separating them all, now they can roam where they choose and are in and out of the coop, I gathered 14 eggs today so they have quit harassing the hens too... Yeah!!!

Awesome news!!!

All is still great, the geese mingle with all the chickens (well except for the broody hens) lol... They give those ladies a very wide berth, they do honk at the others and everyone scurries out of their way, if they would stand up to them the bullies would be a bit more tolerable in the run but alas, they are almost top dogs and seem to like it that way

I'm so very happy my Bro decided not to take them, it worked out perfectly.

on and on edit...
18 eggs today!!! :)

Thought I would give everyone an update,
Sadly I am selling my geese, we have had disappearing baby chicks the last few days and I just assumed it was a hawk or cat...Sadly it is not, the chicks are going on 3-4 weeks old and starting to wander away from the hens, I witnessed two of the geese following one of the babies and the multi colored goose (Rio) grabbed it by the head resulting in the death of the chick.. I don't have a place to separate the geese and give them enough room so sadly the decision had to be made. I make money off the Chickens, enough to pay for the feed for all my animals, losing a few chicks is normal around here but I fear they are going to be systematically hunted down and killed by the geese.. Next year my Turkeys will be raising broods and this is an issue I simply cannot have..

Sad turn of events

Well I´m really surprised at that. I´ve never had anything like that happen with mine. What a shame.
Hope all goes well with your turkeys.....
