My girl is dead

Whenever I lose a chicken, I will open up the abdominal cavity, and look for anything unusual, such as yellow fluid in the cavity, spots or tiny tumors on organs, a tan or huge liver, and lash egg material. Your state vet can do a more thorough necropsy and testing, if a contagious disease is suspected. Here is a list of state vets to contact:

I would know what to look for

I'm so sorry. This also happened in my flock recently, an almost 1 year old Buff Orpington pullet from Hoover's. She had seemed fine earlier in the day. I still have no explanation, although choking and poisoning were brought up as possibilities. I didn't examine her internally or send her for necroscopy, but I told myself if anyone else went suddenly I'd investigate.

Big hugs. Take care of yourself right now. It's awful when these things happen but you have done and are doing your best for your girls.

I went through the poop and found a tiny amount of reg gloppy stuff. I don't know for sure it's from here. Could that be something?
