My girls just started laying last week! Not sure who it is!

So, July 4th I got my first egg! Since I have gotten 3 dark brown (which I am assuming is my french cuckoo marrens). Today I just found a lighter egg!!!! So I think there is a new layer. I have 2 french marrens and 1 barred rock of the same age. I also have 2 golden comets that are about 1 week younger... There are 3 others but they are much younger. Based on the pics can we tell who it could be???

Who has a bright red comb & wattles?

My barred rock and french marans all do the squat and have red combs and wattles. One of the golden comet's has recently gotten bigger and brighter red in the last few days.

I think you're right about the darker ones being from your Marans, the lighter one really could have come from either the Barred Rock or Golden Comet. If the Barred Rock has the brighter comb & wattles I would say it was probably her!

Sexlinks can lay pretty dark eggs...and are likely to lay younger than Marans.

Based on the description of the pullets and the way the eggs look, the dark ones are marans eggs. The lighter egg looks like the eggs my barred rocks layed.
