My Hatching Journey: the Adventures of a Complete Newbie

So I think I have the breeds I'm gonna order from the feed store worked out... After many revisions and additions....

1 EE
1 buff laced polish
1 silver laced polish
1 marans
1 porcelain D'uccle
3 white leghorns
1 buff orp
1 golden nugget
2 silver duckwings- thanks to WV showin' of her gal just as I was finishing writing down my order! :gig
If all goes well... I might have them ordered tomorrow... :fl
Any suggestions? Additions? ;)

Got separate pens to separate the big ones from the little ones? Or are you planning on keeping them all together?

Morning Friday!

I like my bantams at home, and bigger ones at camp. But even at home, I have to open pens separately. They do not play well together :D

As of now, I am planning on keeping them together. I did it last year, and I think it helped minimize problems when they were adults, but I do have a backup plan for if the LF start pounding on the bantams.

"There are no mistakes: just happy little accidents."

Bigger birds work better at my house, and I have a few bossy personalities out there. If I put in a polish or any bantams out there, they'd get bullied.
I have found with my flock mix, as long as I take introductions slow, bantams and LF live pretty harmoniously.I did choose my LF breeds because they were known for being laid back. I go out there and see Jace sunbathing right up against one of the EE's sometimes.

wow I think you have a small problem how far behind are the ducks , I think I would find another incubator to lock down in.

or not raise the humidity to max for the others not sure I would want to leave the incubator uncleaned between the two hatches .

Yeah, I can't wait to get one either! I know someone that got a pair last year, and the hen is SO sweet.
