Oh, and if the bodies were all gone, I doubt a broody that size coulda ate what, 5 or 6 chicks?? Ugh, flockin rats... I hate rats... got huge ones here... but our neighbors cat comes over and catches them and leaves them on their front porch, lol...

Traps are 24/7 here

Chickens even know what they are, and will not touch them. Thankfully.

I even nail em to trees, fenceposts etc.

Small temp spike 1 hour ago- went to 103 but I caught it within an hour and got it back down. It happened right after I put in a little shelf for the thermometer to sit on.(I removed it now) Did it go too high after trying to get back up to temperature or was the slightly higher elevation enough to change it?

yes it is a still air so the temperature is higher closer to the top you should be taking the temperature at the same place every time .

We pick them off with .22 target shot... gunpowderless and take them out quick...

Y'know what I need... Is a month long vacation just to sit around and watch temps.

ok Bubbles science lesson heat rises the temperature is hotter at the top of the still air and cooler closer to the bottom the temperature at the very top of the lid will be as much as 104 or 105 all the time . don't think you had a heat spike you raised the thermometer . don't do that its is bad center the eggs always how's the humidity today ?
