My Hatching Journey: the Adventures of a Complete Newbie

My favorite incubator pic. Opie was all dry, but I was waiting on Chibby to hatch, and Opie was trying to help! LOL
(you can barely see the pip between his leg and his tail)

Yes, day 25 should be right for Welshies, I believe.

Funny you mention not candling till day 8. I did the same thing, but remembered last night, day 14. I still have 4 lavender orpingtons and 6 golden sebright eggs in my incubator. I think I'm going to add some bantam cochins tomorrow evening.

And I'm glad that incubator is working so well for you. So many people have trouble, its nice to know that they do work for some people. My sister in law swears by her old stryo, but got a new one last year and hates it. I've actually been happy with 2 hatches in the FI (still incubating stage in the Brinsea, but hatching in the FI) So many horror stories, I like the good stories better!

Wait... are you using the styro or your homemade?

Great, thanks. I'm still using the styro, I have not finished testing the DIY one.

Of course shouldn't everyone ?

Unless I get 10% hatches quite often, I am going to be swamped. I don't even think I could unload that many chicks through CL in this one horse town.

When I first came to the incubating and hatching eggs forum I was looking for something that held 5-7 eggs..... Not 5-7 dozen.
