My Hatching Journey: the Adventures of a Complete Newbie

I am laughing so hard right now. I candled my eggs this morning..... well, I was hoping a bit of them would be infertile so I wouldn't have to deal with too many chicks. Guess what? ALL BUT ONE WERE ALIVE. Why couldn't this have happened with my 1st hatch??

The dud was a green egg. All of the brown & sultan crosses are alive.

There's still two weeks for stuff to go wrong.....But if all continues this way, Imma gonna need to find homes for a LOT of chicks.

You have mastered the art of hatching . A close eye is the most important thing . and yes things can go wrong an they will .

Haven't set in a while myself trying to resist but the time has come . I will try and set this weekend as many as I can . Always out of town for labor day and don't want to miss the hatch . Only one is good and I would expect some quitters but I hope not . good luck with this week and

for the next candle . BTW just had to post

Totally..... Maybe 'cause I said something about having a good % live there will be lots dead next candle. 'Twould serve me right.

Every egg meant to hatch if they don't well we messed up .Cause every egg I put in the incubator I mean for it to hatch wouldn't put it in there otherwise .

I sure want them all to hatch, but what am I going to do with them if they do?
My feed bill has climbed drastically in the last few months. I have tripled my flock size...... I only go into town once a week, so I cannot have more chickens than will eat a 50 lb bag in one week.
And I'm so far out in the sticks I have a vewwy hard time placing them on CL...... Oh, sure, I place them fast in the spring, but not many are thinking of chicks right now. My last batch sat on CL for over a month before I gave up.

I sure want them all to hatch, but what am I going to do with them if they do?

Bring them to the Walmart parking lot, and sell them like a box of puppies.
