I'm recalibrating my thermo and hygroset today.... Hoping I didn't have it off last time, or that might have been why my eggs died. I'm pretty sure I did it right, but not entirely.

Seriously, my husband is getting really worried because I just told him that I was going to make a coolerbator - got a coleman cooler from freecycle. He asked me how many chickens I needed. I explained that I have Bielefelder eggs, and Brown eggs, and beige eggs, and will soon have eggs from the Ameraucana shicks, but I still need Olive egger and Cream Legbar eggs...

It's a good thing that he is so easy going! He is worried about how much time he spent last summer building things for those chickens... I didn't ask him to, he insisted that the "birdies" needed more room!!!

I just calibrated my thermo/hygro... Left it in 7-10 minutes..... Came back... It was only down to 36.
Last time I calibrated it, it went to 33 and I figured that was believable and edited that into my readings. But 36? I'm going to try again...

@BantyChooks - I am going to build my coolerbator following this youtube video. It seems like a simple setup, and easy to do electric. I have done minor electrical stuff before, and this is straightforward. the lights are hooked to a wafer thermostat, and once the temperature is set, it is controlled by the thermostat.

Hope this helps!

The eggs I ordered are "backordered" so I have time to play with.

That's right, 36.... Last time I calibrated it, it went to 33 and I figured that was belivable and edited that into my readings. But 36??? I'm going to try again... And if it still comes back 36, I know why my eggs died...

My LG thermo got left in for 10 minutes and came back exactly 32.... Would be rather lousy if the LG was better than this one.

No Banti that wasn't it I promise . your air cells were right on . check ambient again remember wash out and possible moisture trapped in Styrofoam pours . calibrate your thermometers if it was not heat or disease then it was just bad luck . don't look so sad . where's my Patience run the LG at operating temperature over night and check it in the morning take out the vent plugs . and let us began again . Banti bating second attempt take one

. I think you will have a hatch this time round . question did you consult a Vet and do cultures to see what your chickens are infected with or going on what you have been told ? just wondering .
