My heart is broke...that stupid *** bear UPDATE!!!! Problem gone!

You need to read the whole story and how many there are here and how unnaturally large numbers of children they are (hatching) having. It is perfectly natural for us to protect our own. I was thinking of King David in the Bible where it says he killed a lion and a bear I believe it was, it wasnt for sport it was because he was protecting his flock. Watch the news for a bear killing or hurting a person here it would surprise me if nothing happened this year without a bear hunt. people who hunt bear treat them just like hunting deer. They use all they can. If carnivores did not eat carnivores...turkey vultures, dinosaurs you always see the TREX's fighting with each other,

I am sure I could go on if I was more awake. It is my life, my familys life and the life of those in this state who are in danger. Bears are in no danger of dissapearing.

edited to say bears don't hatch... he he he

Sorry...they do. In nature they do it to eliminate the competition.

Lions kill cheetas and cheeta cubs. I even saw the aftermath of ferret vs cat.

I agree Wifezilla.
Also lions hunt and kill hyenas- And sometimes the hyenas will gang up and kill a lion. Predators do hunt predators . There are lots of videos on youtube as proof. Not trying to take sides - just FYI

In regards to predators hunting predators.....montana has been documenting grizzly attacks on black bears now for several years. Predators do in fact kill each other.Sometimes its for food sometimes it isnt but it certainly is and always has been part of the natural life cycle.
In regards to the bear attacks......any possibility of getting your self a couple of karelian bear dogs or even a pair of airdales? ( dont laff at the airedale suggestion they were orginally brought to colorado to hunt big cats and are seriously tough dogs.) maybe a pair of anatolians? Karelian bear dogs are used to haze nuisance bears in Montana and I believe in Idaho and parts of California as well....dont know if they would add to your peace of mind and make you feel safer but I know they would for me . Dogs will alert you to their presence sooner and will stand between you and your daughter and the bear.
I see predators as a necesary parts of life and I have a live and let live policy right up till damage starts and anything thats mine gets threatened or hurt or killed. What are the concealed carry laws in your state like? I know here that if you have a concealed carry permit and are threatened by any predator you can shoot...maybe that would be an option for you. The bear problem you are dealing with frightens me because they are so very bold. I wish you and your daughter peace of mind and safety

OH, the bear dogs are a very good idea. I hadnt thought of that. They would at least give the bears a reason to pick a differnt house over yours.

And as for the predator thing, chickens are predators..... They are omnivors and has anyone seen the way they will go after a bug???

Deb,

I absolutely cringed when I saw your photos. I don't know how you summoned up the gumption to clean it up. How are things now?

Thanks.. and yes we are still working on more and more reinforcements I have heard over on the other side of our woods there was one out. The daycare center VERY near us is SO irresponsible. They have their garbage all over and it has obviously been gotten into. It is even across the street and off into the woods. It has been laying there for a week or more...They have a dumpster but they do not keep it locked and they have garbage sitting outside it. GRRR!!!!!

I have to say I have never known such terror. We had nightmares for months and we still do once in a while. I am freaked to be outside. I am looking for a monitoring system, a vine rose bush with HUGE thorns, oh yea and a man with a gun!! Geesh! Oh and a new baby monitor so I can hear out there....

Nice to see you around Mom2cool I was thinking of you!

How did you fare through the winter?

Yeah I know the fear but not from a bear...I have mountain lions coming through my yard at night. talk about a wake up call...let one of them "bark" at you in the dark.

Yes and wolves kill other wolves from different packs. Dogs Kill dogs as well. It's an unwritten law of nature. kill for food, kill or drive off your competition. Stake and mark your territory, then defend it.

Oh wait... That is what humans do too, except they don't use urine to mark their territory. They use fences. And humans kill other humans.
