My heart is broken, Scovey Hen flew off yesterday

PlumTuckered....

As I have 55 + grey hairs on my head now due to Scooter having adventured beyond her boundary it is now necessary for EVERYONE in Arkansas to go looking for Scooter - I am awaiting my new passport and I am prepared to get onto an aeroplane to fly out to the USA to join in with the search for her.....!!!

I can't be with you at the moment - but believe me... I would be, just to see the smile on your face when she came home would be so worthwhile!

Despite the time she has been away, I am truly convinced that she will be home with you as soon as she can make it!!

Plum, it's not unheard of for animals to return after extended adventures. Chances are she found a mate and is busy raising her little balls of down and one day soon you will walk out the door and find her waiting for you as though nothing whatsoever had happened. And I wouldn't be surprised if one or more of her offspring came along with her...

Praying for a happy ending!

Well Suzie, I'll get the guestroom ready for you :)

I still have hope ( and a head of 3/4 gray hairs now LOL) that she'll still come home. I wish I had a mate for her here, she may not have ever flown off if I did.

dkvart1...that's what I'm counting on..that she'll just show up like nothing ever happened. I even posted her photo and all about her missing on our Community facebook page but it seems nobody has seen her at all.

Yippee PlumTuckered...

My passport has now arrived from the French Authority....

Serious business here.... Scooter NEEDS to come home to you with her babies - my hair is going grey, I am seeking out "ducks" every day on BYC to get the news that we ALL want here to know that Scooter has returned safely to you.... you need to have her home and to put your mind at rest that she has come home to the best ever place in the World that she could ever live - that is with YOU!

Thoughts are with you that she WILL BE HOME SOON - you have so many supporters here - thinking of you every day!!!!

Suzie

p.s. I don't like to see that your thread is anywhere other than on page 1....

How are the eggies doing?

How do you keep ducks from flying off? Are there some that don't? I have never really been interested in getting ducks but after reading all 19 pages about Scooter and silently rooting for her to come home every day, I am reconsidering. It IS nice to see this thread on the main thread page again.

We used to take the sick and hurt ducks from the city park when we were kids and nurse them back to health and then bring them back to the park. I don't know why I have never considered hatching and having ducks until now. We so enjoyed taking care of them and loving them. By the time some of them were taken back - because they were with us so long - they knew who we were and when we would go to visit, all we had to do is call them and they would come - but not to any one else. I guess they knew our voices.

Then gradually they would disappear - probably go fly some where else and it really really hurt. We would stay there for hours and call and call. Okay, never mind, now I know and feel the reason I haven't considered having them until now. I was a kid them and they were not mind to keep for ever, but these would be mine I could.

Any suggestions are what breed(s)? I have a feeling there might be some suggestions for Scoveys.

Muscovy ducks will fly ( unless their wings are clipped ) - Scooter was not clipped - therefore she could fly - they can fly very well.... I had a problem with Julia ( a Muscovy female duck ) - she flew into our goose compound and was attacked - she is fine now but people need to be aware that ducks DO FLY.....

I now regularly clip their wings to ensure they cannot fly away - it is heartbreaking to know that they can fly off without our knowledge - for whatever reason - Scooter WILL be home witrh her Mum (Mom) - she is loved and she knows it.

Okay Suzie, when you come over here to visit Michelle and Scooter with all your gray hair, you will have to teach me how to clip a ducks wings (it's a little intimating for me) because I think I am going to do this. I guess I should talk to my husband about this but since with every animal I have gotten and had he has always told me "whatever makes me happy".

I guess I'm a little spoiled.
