I didn't realize the crop is possibly exposed. I'd probably do a shallow bath and use a washcloth to saturate her other wounds and not be concerned with a small amount of water dripping into the chest wound.

The size of the wound, though, isn't an issue with epsom salt soaks.

I agree about withholding the Amprolium, but if you don't have it in your medicine kit, I'd hang onto it. If (and when) you have to deal with coccidiosis, a very common issue since coccidia occurs naturally in soil, you may well need it, and the faster you get it to them , the better!

fwiw - medicated feed in the US only contains a Coccidiostat - usually Amprolium. This "medication" has no antibiotic properties. It won't hurt her, but if you did buy some, you may want to take that back.

Sorry @MROO if there was as miscommunication. I was referring to the OP buying medicated Feed. If unopened, I would take that back, since it's really not needed in this situation.

You can get injectable pencillin at the feed store and you can get Cephalexin, or amoxicillin for fish. Something like Cephalexin might be a good choice. You're an EMT? Got any doctor friends, they might be willing to help you find something too.

I was going to (safely) dispose of it, but if I can use it for chickens, I'll stash it in my first aid cabinet. What's the dose for a standard and a bantam chicken, so I can write it on the bottle?

Neomycin is very good
Doxycycline as well
Enrofloxacin
Tylan or Tylosin
&
Biotrim

Along with multivitamin those contain biotin & amino acids will help 2X

The dose prescribed for one of my hens was ~56 mg per pound twice a day.
