My hen has a prolapsed vent !

How is Speedy doing with her prolapse?
No news is good news?
Hi !! Sorry for not keeping you guys updated, and for answering only now. I have school and so on. But yes - no news is good news. Her prolapse has never fallen out again. She did have a very runny tummy as shown above, but that is fine and gone now. Her poops are normal again. She leaked her urates out for quite a while, but then it finally started making the white tip on the poop. She has started laying a few days ago. When I saw the egg in her cage I got a HUGE fright. I went to check on her bum, no prolapse !!! She has layed 3 eggs so far with no prolapse !! And these we know are real chicks. We will maybe let her breed 1 or 2 eggs. So excited !! She's sitting behind me right now. It's rainy outside and she doesn't like that.

And update on the rooster - we found him a home. It's my dad's brother, he has lots of doves and other birds. He loves birds and when i told him we're giving our rooster away, he said he wil take him. There will be a few hens for him there, and not only one

And then I have to thank everyone for your support and advice. I really appreciate it and I couldn't have done it without you. I don't know how to thank you !!

Good News!!! So glad to hear that Speedy is doing so well. What a lovely little hen she! Nice eggs too.

Sounds like Rooster is going to a good home! He will have more hens too. He's a handsome boy and I'm sure he will be taken care of.
One thing I notice about his legs is he has some raised scales? Tell the people that take him to rub some type of oil into and under the scales of his legs a couple of times a week for a while. The oil will smother the mites. You can use vaseline, coconut oil or similar.

You did such a wonderful job taking care of Speedy! With your care and devotion she has pulled through beautifully. Thank you so much for the photos and the update.

Yep I have already treated the rooster for his scaly leg mites. When I got him it was bad. Like very bad. His spur was round. Yes - ROUND !! One day on the treatment the lump fell off. There was a big one on his other leg too. Almost covered his whole leg. It's because in his previous home he had to be in a small cage all day with another rooster, so one of them got it and gave it to the other I'm guessing. But that one raised scale in the picture won't come off. I bought medicine that you put directly on his legs and then it kills the mites. It says that you should treat him for 10 days straight. I did that but that one scale is still raised. I also treated Speedy for the mites, i know it's contagious

What a Wonderful update! :woot:wee:woot
Well done!! You really played a blinder with this one! I hope you are really proud of yourself. You will be well able to handle issues like this if they are ever to present to you again. I'm really happy for you and for Speedy, she looks like a little princess :) Beautiful.
