Hi everyone, I’m a new chicken keeper and I am panicking as my 4 month old white Sussex hen isn’t herself tonight. She was fine all day and when I went to let her out the run for her evening walk around the garden she was all puffed up. She had a slow walk around and then I saw pinky/orange discharge coming out of her vent. She came to me and perched a bit then laid a shell-less egg, it was just a sack but it was completely intact so I know this one hasn’t popped inside her. She laid a perfectly healthy hard shell egg this morning so it was a surprise to see this happen only 9-10 hours later. Since this has happened she has kept herself puffed up and took herself back to her run and just stood there with her eyes closed and tail in the air. I have looked all over forums but can’t quite find this situation. I’ve tried giving her sugar water but she refused I tried a syringe and she only took a drop and I tried giving her some water with calcium crushed in it but again she refused and shook her head. She is still eating though and it is now dark so she has taken herself to bed in her coop but I’m worried about what could happen overnight. Any advice would be very appreciated, I cannot get photos now as she is in the coop with 3 others, I didn’t get any earlier as I was too busy panicking and googling.
Thanks again in advance
