For what it is worth, I had a “pullet” that began growing saddle feathers, no crowing, but she died and when I opened her up she was lacking ovaries. Also no testicles. She didn't crow that often. At the time, I had all hens and I suppose she trying to be the dominate one. She never routinely crowed like a typical rooster.
