My hen layed a $3000 egg

Now I feel quite clever for using some cement-fiber siding on my coop. It's got a 50-year warranty! Gives me more time to break even ...

Only have 30-year shingles on the roof though ...

Grats on the first egg!

It seems that all of my silkies lay "golden eggs"!!!! LOL

With 1100 eggs a month and selling chicks and selling chickens and selling cages, coops and supplies, we are down to about $3 a dozen after a year. Not too bad seeing how we are selling them for $1.50. What a money maker!!!! LOL Hey, but WE HAVE FUN!!

my hubby says that it will take 36 dozen eggs to pay for our set-up but that is just because of wire, the rest was scraps of lumber will asked around for. The next batch will not cost so much because we already have all the chick set-up stuff like light, feeders, ... We only have 5 eggs from one girl, waiting for the other five to lay, yet.

OH.. this post made me feel so much better.. I keep getting teased about how much my eggs will have to sell for..

Heres my coop that I love and its multi functional so I keep telling people, it is really a garden shed/ storage shed (wink wink) so I don't have to add the cost into my eggs..

I would never add up all the coop and chicken costs. It's too scary!

If you are stressed out, chickens give you a since of well being, calm your nerves, relaxation, ease your anxieties, and think of the thousands of dollars that you are saving, instead of what you would have paid the psychiatrist !

RIght now, i just about break even. I have 9 chickens, I get 7 eggs a day roughly. So 1 dozen every two days. Thats 2 bucks. I have to buy feed every 3 weeks which is 13 bucks. I am making roughly 4 to 6 dollars a week. lol Not much!

Good luck finding buyers of those $3000 eggs! lol

Cody!!
