My hen layed a $3000 egg

Look at it this way, though, between my four-legged friends (one horse, four dogs) and my two legged (hens/roosters) I've still saved a lot on therapy. Therapy goes for who-knows-how-much per hour and isn't half the fun as sitting on a quarter horse, tending/watching hens and roosters peck, or playing/rescuing german shepherds or whatever else....

AND we do get to eat lots of quiches, frittatas, egg salad, potato and egg tacos, etc. etc.

SO, BYCers, REJOICE IN THE MONEY YOU'RE SAVING ON THERAPY!

You all make me feel fortunate that I didn't build a coop from scratch, that would have really upped the investment. Only the kid's playhouse + attached run...

I am still hoping that my Little Rickie isn't really Little RICKY, but that is just a pipe dream as her comb and wattles keep growing...

Wow! Just got my first three today and they cost me about 350 bucks apiece! CONGRATS on ur first egg.

I was walking back from the coop last night after putting the flock to bed, and I was so relaxed after petting them and hearing them coo. It's like they just bled the stress right out of me. It's worth it for that.

Funny posts!! BUT so true...

My dh is saying, I will need to charge 1000$ per dozen to break even in 10yrs! It's like everything else around here... 9 dogs(who boss me around), 10 beehives (that we give the honey to friends and relatives for gifts), a herd of black angus (that we don't have the heart to butcher

) and now these wonderful chickens!!! Priceless is correct!! LOL

I always look at it the same way I look at an expensive pair of shoes. The first time you wear them, it costs $100, the second, the wearing is $50 each, The third time is $33.33 and so on. After a while they owe you money. It works on my dh
