My hens aren't laying

That's frightening, I'm sorry.

Snake proofing may need to be done. That appears to be a pretty decent sized snake (here, I've only seen common garter snakes. Too small to mess with sizeable chickens. Knock on wood I didn't just jinx it.)

I'm sure somebody on here is knowledgeable about snake proofing, but I'm assuming that 1/4" hardware cloth could be used for most of it. I just wouldn't know how high up the fence to put it (certainly higher than the snake is long?), or how it would need to be buried to keep out those types of snakes. (And mice or rats.)

maybe give them a higher protein feed. My guess is they are just taking a break, and will lay again.
I was reading the post. Did you say how old your hens are??? Also, are you feeding them only crumble or scraps or any sort?? It's hard really to tell what's happening at times. My 9 standard laying hens have been very Sporadic this spring with their laying. Really only 2/3 a day on a good day. I also lost a couple too. I started being more conscientious about their feeding. I now make it a point to gets them more protein foods when able- cooked eggs, occasional yogurt, worms, protien treats, and becan a small compost in their yard w h are put left over fruits, veggies, and healthy left over foods. Today, by golly I got 5 eggs! That's a huge deal. My 10th hen is injured and in healing . But she occasionally lays an egg, but she's also an egg eater so we have to get it quick if she lays one. My bantams, 3 layers are hit or miss.
Stress from the cows may be an issue for a spell. Also I have a chihuahua, who annoys my ducks and teases the hens, but they are figuring it out. It's life to stop not everything is a stress contributer.
Just thoughts.
