Today I went out and noticed this hen was still sitting on the roost. It was the middle of the afternoon, so I thought something was off..so I picked her up and noticed her eye was swollen. She has no other visible signs of distress, no bubbling in the eyes like with mycoplasma, which unfortunately, my flock has. She doesn't have any nasal discharge, or seem to have any trouble breathing. There doesn't seem to be any infection coming out of the eye also. So im unsure whether its some other infection, or if maybe something scratched her eye. I brought her in for the night until I get a better idea of how I cam treat her or what I need to do. Any suggestions or ideas of what this could be would be helpful. Also, I used vetericyn eye drops in it before she roosted this evening.

Could be her eye got scratched or pecked. I use Neosporin without the pain relief ingredient for any eye infections or to prevent eye infections. Probably just a wait and see situation.

Do you have photos of her eye?

It can be hard to know what's causing the swelling.

General eye care is to flush with saline, remove any debris or pus, then put an ointment like Terramycin eye ointment in the eye.

Since you have Vetericyn eye drops, use those, see if the eye improves in a couple of days.

Hey any luck finding the actual type and reasoning for you.

A few get ago the worlds most friendly went into Tasmanian Devil.

I received a few nicks from the chooks this morn adventure. Supposed to be genius in Birdbrain and the other are using our grenade etc. to set booby traps.
