My hens love to eat ice

So...pretty much sums it up. Did a BYC search, nothing popped up. We give the girls 6 waterers, some with tempid water, others with cool water or cold water. The first day it happened it was by accident, went to dump ice out of a planter and the girls just went bonkers. Now we can just toss ice onto the ground and let them have at it. Anyone else have this happen?

Just a funny chicken thing, same with dogs.
It's winter and if they aren't panting or anything then I doubt they're hot

Not surprising, they normally jump on anything new on the ground.
Mine love to nosh on the snow banks.

MINE do that very thing, when I dump the frozen water, and it breaks, they eat up the slivers like it is gold. They will also drink from the fresh water, but go bonkers for the ice crystals. Goofy girls.

It's normal chickens. They will attack pretty much anything new to them. In the summer heat I freeze cabbage and give them.

Heck it can be snow on the ground and my 2 coons still love ice cubes.
