My hens won't incubate their eggs.

normally young pullets wont go broody... but in saying that i had a bantam of mine lay 12 eggs then decide to go broody... she didnt really know what to do tho.... and she snapped out of it quite quickly
Oh, I see.

Complicated world the chicken world really.

Thanks!

Once their laying gets into swing, if you want to hatch the eggs you can get an incubator and do it that way.
Thank you for this but no, no interested in getting an incubator into play.

It was just I thought it would be cute to watch all the process. But yeah, now I'll forget about it.

I'm sure that at SOME point your silkie will go broody. They almost always do, it seems. You could also get some more chicks that will grow into broody hens...cochins and silkies are phenomenally broody. My friend has 2 cochins and they are constantly broody.

Yeah, there's hope!

Black cat, no I won't buy new chickens. Firstly because they are already a handful (I've become a master at flip flop throwing) and secondly because where I live there seems to be only these fluffy or either those HORRIBLE UGLY chickens with enless legs, tiny bodies and only one third of the feathers on them. I'd have nightmares knowing their are sleeping in one of my bathrooms.

But THANKS!

He is a very nice looking rooster! One day the females just might go broody. They look like they have potential for it....especially the silkie.

You would be surprised how many people DON'T know it takes a male and a female to make baby chickens.
