My hens won't incubate their eggs.

Caponising can be done and is a common practice for meat birds. Generally it's done on the farm and very few vets will even try it, if they do they charge way too much for it.

Frankly after reading this thread I would suggest rehoming any roosters and not to try to think about what happens. You seem like you have a huge heart and it's tough.

Wish ya best of luck with having all hens.
that’s the best and wisest wish i’ve got lately. friends and family have no idea what i’m talking about and don’t understand my worries.

thank you!

Having issues with somebody having house chickens?

Not my cup of tea as I don't even allow my dog in the house but everybody is different. I know a person that allows their mini donkey in the house.
Chickens sh*t everywhere and carry diseases. There is a reason why barnyard animals belong in the barn. Even entertaining that that is normal and not a health hazard is absolutely absurd. That’s all I’m going to say about it.
Gross.

Raised and live on a farm, your preaching to the choir. On the same note what they do in their house is none of my business.

i’m sure if i visited your house i’d also find a couple of things i think are gross but you know what? i wouldn’t say a single word to you.

and you know why? because my parents raised me to have good manners.

I’m expressing my shock at an incredibly unhealthy situation. It’s not a matter of having a perfectly clean house.... it’s a matter of common sense and basic hygiene. My dogs don’t carry salmonella and they’re certainly not allowed on my kitchen table.

i’m not an english native speaker but still i think the adjective “gross” doesn’t express shock but disgust loaded with judgement and insult.

but hey, what do i know?
