I've had gentle pecks at my hair or clothes. They don't peck skin. Or eyes.
My roosters are especially gentle.

mussolinín —mussolini’s son— is doing GREAT.

indeed as people here said the mom started teaching him how to eat and i just spent THE WHOLE DAY watching and stroking him —not a very productive day really.

when i left there were no other chicks there. now i’m in bed —7:55pm here. i think i should expect new chicks tomorrow and after tomorrow.

my chickens spend all day long outside really. they just cross the house two or three times a day just snooping around and chasing this or that bug —that’s why i got them in the first place, as a pest control and they are THE BEST.

they sleep in the kitchen bathroom that nobody uses and it’s easy peasy to clean it up in the morning with the hose and pour some bleach around.

then daisy went crazy one day looking for a place where to lay her egg and was all over around the kitchen breaking everything and at the end she chose the kitchen table —a very big one. and what could i do if she found her peace there? and anyway the hens do not poo when they are laying or incubating so both hens were just like deco there, nothing else.

You don’t need to explain to anyone where and how you choose to keep your chickens. If you and they are happy that all it matters. When you mentioned the kitchen table on the first post I thought how cool!

I kiss mine all day and people think is gross. To me they are so soft I can’t resist

You don’t need to explain to anyone where and how you choose to keep your chickens. If you and they are happy that all it matters. When you mentioned the kitchen table on the first post I thought how cool!

The indoor/outdoor debate, lol! So long as chickens (and ducks for that matter - I see a lot of house ducks) are allowed to be chickens and ducks and display natural behaviour, and their other basic needs are taken care of, then I don't think it matters too much where that is. My preference is outside because that is more of a natural habitat, but I respect that there isn't just one 'right' way to do things.

I draw the line at costumes and leashes though!

I noticed you mentioned they aren't pooping while brooding. You have hopefully been putting them off the nest once a day for a short break to eat, drink and poop, right?

well, no.

firstly because nobody told me i need to do so.

secondly because the way they bristle their feathers when i get too close makes my cats look like clowns and my health insurance doesn’t cover being attacked by two furious hens.

and thirdly because they use to jump off the table through the kitchen door once a day by themselves, have a quickie with mussolini, eat something, poop and back are they BUT it’s true sometimes they spend 48h or longer without moving and that’s the case since the chick was born.

OMG, i’ll do that as soon as the sun rises!!!
