My Indian Blue Runner Ducks need more weight

Well..She also isn't laying in the morning yet so she is out with the flock and probably the soft egg releases because she is confused about the process.
I feed the Grower/Finisher although mine is for Ducks, Chickens, Geese and Turkeys.
She was laying in the house with the other girls until this past week two when I noticed she was also the only one molting. All of the sudden she is off which is why I was concerned. For months I have been getting 4 beautiful healthy eggs a day with the random one missing here or there of course. Otherwise though she is happy and playful and sweet.

Then don't worry about her for now. Give her a few weeks.

Oyster shell is on the way, husband is stopping by TSC on way home from work. I was giving to them but that somehow did not get replenished the last couple of trips to the store. Bad duck mama!
I'm sure you're a great duck mama! :hugs

At least 1-2x a week one of my Runners will lay (drop) her egg on the go. I think they hate to be left behind so even if the urge is there to lay the desire to keep up with the flock out weighs her staying to lay so I’ll find one by the fence where they head up the hill or out by the water bucket ? Usually when they are molting they don’t lay.

Ok thank you, that helps a lot. I noticed when she started molting she started having issues with her laying schedule (if at all) and quality of the shell. She has been eating like crazy but I attributed that to the cooler weather. I have no idea, I am observing these guys and asking y'all questions.

I had ducks 5 yrs before I actually got a computer and found BYC thankfully I had the library to find information but BYC has been the best. It’s a great place to learn and enjoy, a place to talk about problems we have and enjoying each other’s duck stories and ducks.

Yes they are moulting. They are normally dark blue. They all have light grey speckles on them. What a bad time to loose feathers it is so cold. Since filling the duck house with hay they seem so content. You would think like dogs they would moult only in the spring when it is warmer.
I will add oyster shell, I dont do that at the moment. When they were laying the shell was so hard it was difficult to peel after boiling them.
It make sense to give growers in the cold and the days are short (Less time to Feed)
I have learned so much in a short space of time. I am so pleased I found this site.
