Your lavender chickens sound beautiful! Are they Orpingtons? When they reach a year old they can be called hens, right now they're still pullets. It sounds like the entire feeding program you've chosen is treats. Chicken scratch and bird seed both have very little nutrition to support egg laying for long. Do you offer oyster shells free choice to meet calcium needs?

Your birds would benefit from a good quality feed in pellets or crumbles (many organic brands available too) I prefer to feed Flock Raiser w/OS on the side, even for my older birds. Then I don't have to worry about changing feeds when I add new chicks in spring and the higher protein content seems to help with nutrition over winter and regrowing feathers after molting, though your young birds probably won't experience their first true molt until next year. Some people prefer to feed a layer raton. Goodies they find while out free ranging are perfectly fine and healthy, as well as many fruits and veggies, eggs and mealworms, but remember to keep all those types of yummy treats you've been feeding to a minimum... about 10% of their total daily diet.

Here's a couple links with more feeding info:

Hi guys! My name is Carmine! I'm 22 and Nonbinary (they/them pronouns please.)

I got my first ever chickens this year, sometime mid-April. Back then they were still chicks. Now two of our hens lay eggs!

Right now I have 3 chickens. They are all Lavendars. I used to have a fourth, she was a Prarie Bluebell.

I genuinely love giving my chickens love and food... Food consists of: chicken kibble (scratch), various fruits and veggies I have growing in my yard, bird seed... Treats would be something I prepared myself, like... idk banana. Cooked egg and steamed rice together.

I love to draw, sing, play video games, watch horror movies, take my dogs on walks, hiking and camping, fishing... I love to do all kinds of things!

I live in a house with some friends and their two dogs. We share a comfortable and happy life. Right now I'm a security guard, but my dream is to be a freelance artist. I want to share my art with the world... I want to show people what it feels like to be happy, to live their lives to the fullest.

I would be happy to chat with you all! To share a funny meme, pics of our chickens, something that made you smile today? Feel free to message me.
Welcome Carmine :welcome:bun from the San Diego High Desert.

If someone hasn't suggested it already Scratch is more like feeding your chickens candy rather than good nutrition. A good pelleted feed is a much better choice. Use scratch as a treat rather than their main diet.

Lots of diverse people here I am an artist as well...
