There's lots of other horse people here on the site, I'm sure you'll run into. I used to have a couple geldings, a buckskin QH and a gaited pinto. Competed on a ladies drill team for a number of years, did some team penning on my pinto-- no one could believe what a good little cutter he was! Trail riding is where I found my zen, but now it's with my chickens. Glad to hear you love your animals so much, they can bring out your true happiness.

I used to compete in Western and trail on a nearly blind Appaloosa and we cleaned up at the local shows. People were always shocked when they found out my mare couldn't see!

We started together when she was 15. We rode nearly daily and spent A LOT of time on the trails around the stable and practicing in the ring. She trusted me.
She also figured out what the announcer was saying during classes and would start to change gaits when she heard the new command instead of waiting for me to signal her! We won so frequently that after the class was in the line up and they announced the winner, she'd just stepped forward. It was really embarrassing when she did it in the class that we came in second!

Haha How dare those judges give her in second place!
That kind of anticipation actually saved me more than once. Even after a bazillion dilll team practices and memorizing a hundred different routines, sometimes nerves would make me lose my place and forget the next move during a competition, so I just closed my eyes and let my horse find our place. No collisions or points deducted, phew! Actually we did have one collision but that wasn't our fault... and a story for another time...

I have a brother and a mom and dad. My horse is a 15.1 hand Arabian that is the love of my life. I volunteer at Feelgood Farm. I love my chickens so much.
