(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Kind of! It will be my 2nd summer with chickens, but we lost all but one of our hens and rooster to coyotes. That single hen just hatched all of the late hens eggs!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We currently have one hen, one rooster, and 15 chicks!
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love watching how they forage for food. Though we feed grain too, they are free range and to see them find favorite spots to forage is cool to me.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Our chickens are all we have besides a corn snake. My oldest son (2 years old) is very allergic to cats and somewhat allergic to dogs so we chose the less common route. I am currently a full time student and in my last year of college! Very excited.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I’ve seen some forums from BYC for a while, especially when i look up questions from google. I decided to join just because I’ve let my hen raise these chicks and I just want a place to ask questions when they arise.
