Cyn I am so sorry you have lost your wonderful Ivy - but we all know she's no longer suffering. She was so lucky to have you as a mom, and Lexie for a sister that so passionately slept by her side in her last day. Ivy was a very special hen not only to you but the others of us here on BYC and she will be greatly missed by us all.
My love and support and a never ending supply of hugs for you, DH, Lexie, and all your other chickens.

chickenzoo, that is beautiful. I've saved it on my computer. Thank you for that.
Ivy had a fighting spirit that helped her come back from the brink twice, but this last time, her body was too ravaged by this horrible ailment to recover again. She will never be forgotten. Grapes were the last thing she tasted (thank you, Ladyhawk, for giving her such pleasure in her last few weeks by showing her the wonders of grapes). We had checked on her about 45 minutes before and she was still breathing, but had positioned her head in the back corner of the dog kennel. Lexie was standing beside her quietly when I discovered Ivy had passed, no seizures, just quit breathing and sailed away.
Cyn - I am so glad she went so quietly and peacefully, she took a nap to go on her trip to the other side. Poor Lexie, I know this will be so hard on her. But bless her sweet little heart for staying by Ivy and seeing her safely on her journey.
She closed her eyes, let out her breath, let go, and the next breath she took was one of joy and wonder. She is flying now, and running, and chasing bugs, and waiting for you. You know I believe this.
I am so so sorry for your loss. I know how much Ivy meant to you and know you will miss her horribly. I am so glad she passed peacefully. My thoughts are with you as you grieve for your loss.
I know there are no words that help right now, but I just want you to know how much I appreciate you and your words. I hope you can feel the love and appreciation that we all have here for you...
