My Jersey Giant is extremely sick and I'm worried she might die tomorrow morning :(

I've looked up tractor supplies in my area and the closest is thirty miles away

. I'm starting to lose chances of saving this chicken. I did find a feed store call Midway City Feed, I'm going to check it out tomorrow to see if they have any corid and dewormers.

Call the closest Tractor Supply to make sure they have what you need. Make the trip profitable by picking up bulk supplies if you can afford cash and storage space for them. Set up your chicken emergency kit. Mine has been loaned out to friends when a hen gets sick and all the stores are closed. They repay me by replacing whatever they need with more than I gave. It's a nice deal for all of us. If you have chicken keeper friends, see if they have what you need.

I had a sick one when she was 9 weeks old. Spent a lot of time with her on my lap feeding her antibiotics from a syringe... And meal worms from the bag. She's almost 10 months old now and hasn't ever laid, but she is a GREAT attentive hen. She just squatted today for the first time and I'm thinking she will lay her first egg in a week or so. She's my buddy.

Hope your girl makes it!

What kind of antibiotics have you given her? (Please don't say corid because my closest tractor supply is thirty miles away...)

Some farm stores carry Ampromed instead of Corid, but both are amprollium. They get all 9 or more strains of chicken coccidiosis. Sulfa antibiotics such as Sulmet (sulfamethazine) and Sulfadimethoxine (also called Di-Methox) will fight the 2 strains of coccidiosis. According to Merck Manual in the table below, other drugs will treat coccidiosis if Corid (amprollium) can't be found:

On recommendation from my local (not TSC) supplier, the place I got my hatchlings from, Aureomycin was what I used. Seemed to be a respiratory problem.

TSC has lots of stuff. My two closest are each more than 35 miles away. Takes a little over an hour to get to either one unless the Chicago traffic is bad. I make an effort to stop and stock up and browse/ask questions whenever I am near.

Hey ya'll. We'' she seems to be doing a bit better, but a major problem I'm currently having is that she can't walk. She just lays down and spreads her legs out. If i make her stand up she starts stumbling. I've given her Gatorade for a couple of days to rejuvenate her electrolytes. But nothing seems to be working. Any ideas???

I didn't get Corid, but I did get sulmet. Now that Iv'e got it, how much do I give her?

Ok so while ive been giving her the sulmet, she pooped and there were absolutely disgusting worms moving around in her poop!!! She's unable to walk but she wants to drink the sulmet water. Should I give her some food since she hasn't eaten all day. If i do, what should i give her?
