11 yo DS, good health except asthma...

He's complained about a stomach ache for 3 days. Off and on, never bad enough to do anything about it, bothered by activity more than anything.
On the 3rd day, he coughed all day. Not a lot, not alarming, I thought it was a mild asthma problem from the wind we've been having.
That night, he said he has a fever. I checked, it was only 100, but a fever nonetheless.
He checked his temp in the middle of the night, said it was 97 on one side, 98 on other side (underarm thermometer).
Now, this is the 4th day. He feels good except still has the stomach ache.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

I haven't heard anyone talk about this going around.
Which one of you can I blame it on?

I've got two little ones that haven't caught it yet.

My DD (16) has had something similar. More nausea than stomachache, (no upchucking, though), headache, lowgrade fever, then low temp. Doc said it was a virus. She tested negative for flu and strep.

Hmmmm..... he hasn't had nausea (thank God), and he hasn't had a headache. Maybe he has a milder version of what you're daughter had.

How long was she sick with it?

I'm surprised it wasn't some type of flu she had. If I had those symptoms, I would have assumed flu.

He had it the day before. Honestly, I didn't even believe him because we were cleaning the house and their bedroom that day so, well, you know. But he played outside just fine, and did everything fun just fine.

After they got the vaccines on the second day, in the evening, I noticed my stomach was hurting, too. Mint tea took care of it. It was so mild I didn't even fret, but I realized he hadn't been making it up. All these days he's been bothered by the stomach ache much more than me, but like I said, still not enough to bother with a doctor's visit.

His tummy hurt on Tuesday.
The H1N1 vaccine was Wednesday.
The low-grade fever started Thursday night.
Today, Friday, he only has the tummy ache still.

We have canceled the violin concert they were to perform in tonight

, but you do what you gotta do.

Which H1N1 vaccine did he get, the shot or the mist?

The shot is a killed virus.. If there's any weirdness after that, it's probably just the cellular immune system kicking up in response to the non-self cells that were injected. Mild fever, maybe some achiness, general not-so-great feeling...but not the flu per se.

The mist, on the other hand, is a live attenuated virus...it's not supposed to cause illness because your body's supposed to be able to whack it down in no time.. That's not what I hear happens in the real world, though.. What I hear is that, in the real world, you basically get an 'attenuated' case of the fricken swine flu.

He got the shot because he has asthma. DD, age 5, and DS, age 3 also got the shot.

The fever never returned. He just told me his tummy hurts, but really low, which seemed to bother him (the location) and he says he's gone to the bathroom so many times it's starting to hurt to wipe. I told him it sounds like he has diarrhea, to which the 5yo DS said "He has diarrhea?? You have diarrhea? Why does he have diarrhea? You have diarrhea?"....on and on......

I'm sorry he feels so bad. My mom used to give us either coca cola or ginger ale and crackers. To this day that's what I give to mine. If that doesn't work then I whip out the pepto bismol or kaopectate/imodium. I sure hope he feels better soon.
