My kid is sick- Is this going around & what is it?

I think after the virus has run it's coarse it is common for the GI tract to remain inflammed and irritated. So in that case the anti-diarrhea med would help to calm the inflammation and get the GI tract back to normal.

DH, eldest DS and I all 3 had the same symptoms. It ran its course over about a week.

Sprite helped, as did Matzo Ball soup and good old saltines.

My daughter had/has something similar. Starting last Sunday night she had a stomach ache. Kind of come and go pain. I sent her to school on Monday but she didn’t even make it to class. She stayed home Tuesday and Wednesday. I sent her to school on Thursday even though she was still complaining. Her symptoms included stomach pains, nauseous head ache, and dizziness. Her symptoms come and go. Well she woke up on Friday with the same thing so I took her to the dr. He said what she had is the second most common illness right now, next to the swine flu. It is a variation of the flu, kind of like having the flu but not enough of the virus in you to make you throw up or have diarrhea.

Well today is the first day he has felt better. So he was sick Monday through Saturday, 6 days. I ended up giving him nothing because he was asleep when I read the Coke idea. He missed out! He and his siblings also missed out on Halloween because of this, but they don't know it yet.
