My Kraienkoppe Hens Are So Small! How many large eggs can they brood?

Quote:
So, your experience mirrors ddawn's. At least 6 large eggs. Thanks!

And wow, 18 new little Kraienkoppe birdies? That is a lot.

Yes 6 *peafowl* eggs. Much bigger eggs.

I meant to add, usually when two hens share a nest, the hatch rate is low due to the eggs getting lost/shuffled around or accidentally pushed out to get chilled, the hens wrestling for the best space or ending up under another etc. So I was pretty surprised to see that many chicks from a two hen nest.

My rule for a successful/good broody is a hen that manages to adequately cover then hatch all or most of those eggs. These two Kraienkoppe hens definitely hit that criteria.

If there was anything bad, both are "shooting screechers".. hens that flip out and rocket off the nest in a fit when I go to check on the eggs.
