My girls are 19 weeks old now should they be laying? I let them free range most of the day and I am not sure if I should keep them in the run until they lay in the nest box. I have the nest bos lined with straw and a few golf balls in it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Patience is the name of the game now. Could be anytime now or a few more weeks. Are they showing any signs yet, such as squatting or singing the egg song, or changes in comb color? My barred rock was the first to lay at 18 weeks but my EE waited until 30 weeks.

Don't worry, it should happen soon. You may want to hold on the ranging in case they are laying in the yard somewhere.

When you give up and decide that they won't.

They like to surprise you.
