I picked out my latest chicken guardian last week. He'll be coming home Jan. 1. He's a GSD and should learn some great chicken-herding tips from my other dogs. He's 6 weeks old in this picture. Glad I have an extra kennel for housebreaking, as my usual one has become the Hen Hospital!

Here's a pic of Loki the day after we brought him home. He's already learning to calmly watch the chickens and not chase them, but of course it's going to be a few months before I try letting him off-leash around them.

He's adorable!!! I love the name loki...are you a marvel fan, lol :p

LOL actually, I'm Norwegian so I thought the name of a trickster Nordic god would be fun and I AM a fan of the Frontiers Saga books, in which Loki is a "loose cannon" sort of pilot that always manages to escape certain disaster.

lol :) That fits him. i actually just ordered the first one in that series from the library...so it's a good book?

Thanks. I love GSDs. He's really smart too. 9 weeks old and walking on a leash, sits on command and is working on sit/stay. He's watching the chickens quietly while sitting or laying down, taking his cue from my other dogs that the chickens aren't toys or prey.
