My leukemia's back.

Sleep APNEA has contributions to:
Obesity
Highblood pressure
Anxiety/Depression
and OTHERS

I get about four hours total of sleep per night. Interupted to the point it brings me out of rem long enough to catch my breath but not wake up completely... I do snore but not as much as you might think. 41 epsiodes per hour out of the total sleep time only four were Obstructed... (stopped breathing) One nites testing under unfamiliar conditions and bed...

The testing is important to identify what types and when it happens... Because there are also neurological conditions that cause it as well. Thankfully I dont have those.
there is a simple check list if you think you might have sleep APNEA. If you have x amount of yes answers talk to your doctor.

I fell asleep one time during stop and go traffic... bounced off the car in front of me.
I fell asleep on the freeway doing seventy.... Woke up on the other side of a half mile long bridge with a four hundred foot drop.
I fall asleep when I get comfortable
I fall asleep taking a shower...
I fall asleep infront of my computer.

I am now so fearful of driving long distance I wont do it unless someone is with me to chat and keep me awake. Its kept me from going home on too many occasions.

I'm so glad you are getting the CPAP! Since my neighbor got one, he no longer falls asleep every time he sits down. His wife says it's been a life changer for him.

All of those "events" are caused by exhaustion, potentially due to apnea. They can also be the result of narcolepsy. I have both. Never hit anyone but started putting the car in Park at red lights until I got the diagnosis and treatment.

Deb, I hope you are a "little motion" sleeper. I'm not and the CPAP was worse than the disease. Woke up SO many times during the night to reposition it after it pulled off my nose and mouth. Didn't have the morning CO2 headache but was still dog tired all the time. I just got my 3rd oral appliance for apnea a week ago. The prior ones lasted ~10 years each. They don't work for everyone though.

:hugs

I flip and flop... but the head gear they had in the hospital was comfortable and stayed positioned....

I did have one before in 2004.... in the morning I would wake up and it would be across the room... I wasn't working then. Inssurance ran out and they wouldnt let me buy the machine... so I went back to work without one.... Did ok till I started getting tired of the sixty mile round trip commute...

Bruce you mentioned morning CO2 headaches. Is that from sleep apnea? I sleep most of the day and am up most of the night and into next morning. When I first wake up, I have a headache - minor one. But, I wonder if it means I had it all during sleep also and wasn't aware of it. After I get up and move around - headache is gone.

I've been a night person most of my life and get energetic mostly past 1 am. I don't wake up out of breath except for rare bad nightmares that scare the devil out of me. I had many panic attacks and shortness of breath before I learned how to talk myself "down" from them.( saw psychiatrist for many years)

just out of grins and giggles you might try one of those quickie questionairs online...
there are several questionairs on the following site. All are PDF ...
http://sleepmedicine.com/content.cfm?article=26

here is a discussion on the STOP BANG questionair from a cardeologist point of view.
http://www.acc.org/latest-in-cardio...-sleep-apnea-for-the-cardiovascular-clinician

I am being evaluated by a Cardeologist as well. But when they measured my neck it was seventeen inches in diameter.... Which is signifigant....

So I want to survive Cancer and dodge the heart attack.... Get my health in order to start loosing wieght. At 57 BMI i am at risk... My blood pressure shoots up to almost 200 on occasion. I have good BP meds now though.... .... One thing at a time.

The process.... The Whole process... will bring my weight down Then I will be sucessful at taking the rest off.

When I am really exhausted from being up some times to 7:30 am and having to wake for and get dressed for senior bus an hour later or two(depends on destination- I am barely functioning till I get home again. Sometimes I sleep for 12.-14 hours straight.

I get where I would rather sleep all day than even eat ice cream. Unbelievable!! I am a very short person who is a big mess.

Good morning Team Rachel :frow
Good morning...
