My leukemia's back.

hack! A wee bit hot that was.

any breeze?

Yep... parked on the top of the parking structure... There are solar collectors above that so I found a spot in the shade.... Wind was cooler coming in from the ocean... We are about twelve miles from the Pacific.

It mitigates the heat some... You know this at 96 ambient an 80 degree breeze feels cool.

When I got home my skin was covered in salt.

Sleep apnea is a terrible affliction. I even had surgery for it but now they say it doesn't help. ( i knew that)
Most painful surgery i have had to date and it was useless.
Sorry you had to go through that AND nothing good came of it.

After they decided I did have apnea and the CPAP did do something (when it was on my face) I was given the options of the CPAP, surgery or an oral device. I've already expressed my opinion of the CPAP so that was choice 3. Ripping out irreplaceable body parts to see if that works? NO THANKS. Heck I don't even have two of the primary conditions that are linked to apnea
  1. Overweight
  2. Female
So I went with the oral appliance and as stated it works for me. I know a guy who had had the surgery and when that didn't do it had his lower jaw broken and moved forward. Neither surgery did it, he has to sleep almost sitting up with a CPAP. He doesn't have the 2 listed conditions either.

My step-sister's son has apnea and carries his CPAP and humidifier if he won't be home at night. He was over 300 pounds, big guy to start with, 6' 4" I think. He's dropped probably 50 pounds but was told an oral device wouldn't work for him. I'm lucky!

Some of you have very good doctor skills!!! My endoscopy results are back and I do indeed have Barrett’s Metaplasia, which was mentioned here when I had the swallowing crisis last year. That’s not what’s causing the swallowing issues, though it’s definitely a contributing factor. Recommendation is Protonix (which I’ve already been on for 2 years) and annual endoscopes to make sure what’s benign now doesn’t change later. The dilation hasn’t helped at all, so next up is a more intense swallow study than what I had last year and a low dose CT to see if it might be scarring from the neck fusion I had several years ago. Actually have another low dose CT scan coming up but that’s at a totally different hospital and it’s to find nodules in my lungs.

So all in all, I’m a much happier lady now that I have a plan and doctors I like. It’s a good day!! I wish an equally happy day for all of you!
