My leukemia's back.

Thank you. This made me really sad but at the same time I felt so uplifted. The world may be going to crap but darn it there are still people hanging on! Never knew a chicken forum could be more than a chicken forum.

The more time you hang around on BYC, the more remarkable people you will encounter. Lots of compassionate and fun members, lots of talented folks. And lots of people that just want a place to hang out that isn't full of bad news and negativity (although, that will happen some). There's a whole lot more to BYC than just poultry!

Yes, it was! Two of my Uncles were of draft age. I am sure they were in the war before 1975. Closer to the beginning in think. They were both back by 1975.

I just saw the obituary and he was 70. I am sure smoking cigarettes contributed to a shorter life for him.
Would have made him 18 in 1966. Glad they both made it back!
Since you are counting down to retirement from UCD I'm guessing your uncles weren't a whole lot older than you. Don't have to be of course. DD1 had a friend in school who was younger than her nieces.

I am back from a visit up to Redding Ca. to visit my Mom. We also went to her house in the mountains and I switched out fluorescent tubes with LED Lights. What a difference!
Did you also visit my cousin?? Hopefully not at her place of business. She is an ER doctor.

Yep, I've pretty much tossed all fluorescents for LEDs. Better light, less electricity.

Good morning Team Rachel :frow

I hope Rachel's family is having a wonderful Christmas holiday time, that's what she would want for them.

And for those of us that she touched and left behind.

Thank you. This made me really sad but at the same time I felt so uplifted. The world may be going to crap but darn it there are still people hanging on! Never knew a chicken forum could be more than a chicken forum.

Welcome to 'Rachel's' thread. She was a special, uplifting person and attracted the lot of us while still alive. We hang on in mutual support and to honor her. Glad that you have found us.

Bruce on my dad's side some of my first cousins have GRANDCHILDREN older than I. but dad's oldest sibling was 25 years older than him. and dad was 42 when I was born. had his brother been alive he would have been 67 when I was born. I've had lots of people tell me that my father had to be my grandfather because of his age compared to me and I have 2 younger brothers.

He is the youngest of my Dad's full brothers. Dad was born in 1936 but had MS. Many people with MS die early with heart issues because that cannot move as much as they should. Dad died in 2001.

My Dad's Youngest half sister is two years older than me. We grew up more like Cousins.

I did not visit the ER! She works at Redding Medical Center? That is an area Trauma center so would be quite busy for an ER Doctor.

I have switched over to LEDs at my place. My Mom has not though. I like The LEDs a lot

Somewhat similar to DW's Dad's side. DW was born 101 years after her grandfather. Her dad was once at a Fraternity thing and met an older guy who had known his father. Told him he was Frank P's son.
Guy said "You mean grandson.".
"No, son. Dad was 64 when I was born, I was a surprise".
"Surprise? Hell, more like an effort". :lau
16 years between FIL and his oldest sister, she was born in 1909. FIL was 37 when DW was born (1st of 3).

She works at Redding Medical Center?
Don't know, how many hospitals with ERs are there in Redding? Near as I can tell from Googling, she works at the Shasta Regional Medical Center.

That is likely the place I am thinking of. The name must have changed from when I lived up there.
