It's a moot question - as I am shutting down all the stands - the electric bills were over whelming

I hear you about the Electricity bills! We will be getting rate increases because of PGE being sued for causing fires.

It is terrible that we have to pay for their poor maintenance

Or are you paying for deferred maintenance because they couldn't get rate increases through the Public Service Board (or whatever it is called in Calif) to pay for them in the past?

I know that the rates in CA are tiered based on usage, don't know what an "average" bill is.
Here we pay:
$0.457 per day for being connected
$0.15668 per kWh
$0.01413 per kWh for the Efficiency Vermont program
$1 for Electric assistance program to help low income people pay their power bill.

We typically run around 600 kWh/month so the bill would be $116.74 if we didn't have the solar panels.

My grandfather on my dad's side, died when my dad was 2 years old. My dad didn't grown up knowing his father, and I dang sure didn't ever get to meet/know him. I agree bruce, some people have very little awareness outside of their own personal experience.

Checked with DW. She didn't know her father's mother either though age wise it would have been possible, she was a lot younger than DW's grandfather. However, the grandmother died in 1953 and my MIL never met her either. So we can make a blanket statement that EVERYONE would have known both their in-laws, right!

PGE is being sued for 9Billion dollars for causing the fire in Sonoma county last year. The lawsuits for the Paradise fire are yet to come. We will be paying a big portion of that in the utility bills. PGE does not have enough insurance coverage

Being sued and being found guilty are 2 different things. Will be curious how that all works out. I'm betting that it will be a multi year event. The lawyers will get rich, they always do.

Bankrupt the utility and no one will have power. I bet that wouldn't go over well.
