You must be exhausted...I am and I went to bed at 2.00 am...I was engrossed in helping somebody that was sending me pm's about a chick that was taking forever to emerge from its shell...finally we got to the chick being out of the shell and under a heat lamp...I do hope it survives for the person...apparently the hen was ignoring it! Some mothers eh...Okay....just a quick hello as i pass through at 3am....

It has just started to rain here..much needed as we are having such a prolonged heatwave...after today no rain for at least another two weeks...it s tinder dry here...luckily I have plenty of hay for the horses and donkeys to get them through this beautiful summer weather...summer is my time of year...!

And a very pleasant day to you too...I managed to get an early start today...goose and duck houses all ready for when they decide to go inside this evening..they are mostly swimming around and preening in the rain...chickens are hiding out in various places away from the rain...laying eggs in my hay bales somewhere I expect! I am about to clean the coop and they will then all come over and see if I have hung their feeders up...no chance while ducks and geese are out and about...

Big Boy's last day of prednisone was Sunday. Yesterday, he started getting the same symptoms...short of breath, increased resp rate, low O2 sats, chest pressure. He had a crappy night and I started on the phone first thing this morning.
Lung office never got his referral from the hospital. Or the one the PCP sent over Wed. Or the one PCP sent over last night.
Call PCP. they re-fax and confirm.
Call lung office. We have to process...blah blah blah...authorization needed....blah blah blah....provider to decide how urgent....blah blah blah......we'll call you in a few days with an appointment probably in September.
Not gonna happen.
Call insurance. The boys are on Medicaid but we have a great local managed care. Oddly enough, they already authorized 6 visits with the lung office back on 8.2.16.
Call back to lung office. Get the nurse who handles referrals. Cry a little and get upset when she's stonewalling me.
Call PCP back, beg if there's anything they can do. Not sure but they'll try.
Lung office calls back, he has an appointment Monday. Not great, but we can limp along that long.
Call PCP. They put him back on steroids and start an inhaled steroid.
Why on earth is it this hard to get medical care? Why do I have to get all bitchy and pushy for my kid to get proper care? Or any care?
To take out my frustrations, I cleaned out the fridge. Dinner may be interesting, I'm just putting all the leftovers into enchiladas

Sold my three little impulse buy Barnevelder pullets today. Trying to thin the flock as fall approaches.
So, this may sound gruesome to some, but how do you think one could do selling butchered silkies or silkie mixes as novelty meats around Halloween? I've got these little black skinned cockerels running around that are absolutely useless. I'm kind of wondering if I can find someone with a morbid sense of humor to buy them....There's not Asian market in my area, so that's not an outlet.

Rachel, I don't understand the 'why', but you did well for Big Boy. About the silkies - yep, morbid.
Access to medical care is a horrible problem in the US. You did great getting him in that soon, but wish it could have been sooner. 
Really hope they can figure out what's going on with his lungs!
