My leukemia's back.

Jeter, the lab, (grandson # 2 is a Yankees fan) is a great dog. I just may keep her. This is her third visit - first without the pigs errr I meant pugs. She has become my constant shadow. She knows the routine here and communicates her wants very well. I just may keep her.

We went to a BD party for my MIL. Fun time was had by all. We had a red neck party: lobster feed in the garage. Got to meet for the first time, my grand nephew. He's 4 months old, and of course you'd never see a cuter baby. Maggie, our puppy got to meet her doggie relatives. After a cautious introduction, she decided she liked them. The 3 dogs spent most of the day under the pear trees, munching on the drops. Maggie got to go on lots of walks with my grand dtrs. I think I like having grand kids around to walk the dog. It meets the needs of all concerned very nicely.

We still have our grandson til the month...it's a nice change.

Here Are pics of the cardboard boat races. Not great pics, but the boats up front are made of cardboard. They have strict specific rules on what types of cardboard, tape, adhesive, etc you can use. Some were so awesome, no way could you tell they were cardboard. Others sank right at the start line. That is the Ohio River and Kentucky is in the background across the river.

Well sorry....I can't get my pics to upload. I'll try again later.

If you look closely, you can see on the far left corner of the cardboard boats is a boat shaped as a tea cup. They did surprisingly well. There is also one shaped like a peacock. Some people just go hog wild over their cardboard boats. It was so fun.

This one is mostly of the river. And random people that wanted to become famous on a chicken website.

Hi all!

Been absent for a few days due to eyesight problems and breathing difficulties...all my own fault!

I found mites in the new coop...so I stripped everything out and treated ceiling, walls, nesting boxes, perches and the floor with liquid permethrin...dusted all the chickens with powdered permethrin...all new bedding was treated too. Following day my eyelids were hugely swollen and it was hard to breathe...I looked as if I had had a few rounds in a boxing ring... it dawned upon me that it MAY have been the permethrin...I had no mask nor eye protection while treating for the mites...my compromised immune system could not cope...I could hardly put one foot in front of the other...it has taken until yesterday for the swelling and breathing problems to disappear...lesson learned! I need to re treat the coop later this week...just to make sure that no hatching mites can survive...I will be wearing appropriate protection!

Rachel I am so pleased to hear that you now know what was affecting big boy's health..so happy for you all that his health will return to normal very soon!

Sour...I read with horror your remarks about leaving BYC...So happy that you were venting and that you are staying ! I too get incredibly annoyed and upset when other BYC members are nasty and rude...I have helped a lot of users by pm's...I am often up until the early hours helping somebody that has been made to feel inadequate by other posters...surely this is not what we are about as BYC members...I have a list of people that I avoid...they are abrasive and think they know everything...!

Phil...it is 100;4 here this afternoon...the heatwave continues...we have had the odd thunderstorm but the land needs more water...I reckon the fish in the millpond and river are almost cooked by now...luckily all of the animals here have found shady places to keep cool..

Love to you all....
