My leukemia's back.

It's not complaining. It's venting

Seriously, if you don't blow off steam once in a while in a safe place, you're gonna explode somewhere where it will do damage. Why do you think I post half the things I do here?

Poor Honey, bless his heart. I'm fussing about having too many bird and going through too much feed....and then I bring home chicks.

I am planning on having a sale in about 2 weeks. Need to get rid of all these point of lay pullets, and the cockerels need to go one way or another.

But, baby chicks.......so much potential! And I always like to have a few sex links for sale, folks love them and they're such great layers.

I'm good! Welcome to BYC and Donrae's thread. It's a great supportive group we have here. I call many of them my friends.....maybe all:D

Today, two bad things happened. But it could've been a worse day. Last night, after putting the chickens in the coop, we heard a fuss in the dark. I was already back at the house, boots off, couldn't see back at the coop. Just stood there in silence for a second, when the squabbling stopped quickly, I assumed it was just pecking order. This morning, I let them out, and low and behold my little blue copper marans cockerel is missing. I walked the property, no feathers, no sign of him. Hoped that some miracle he would appear tonight on the roost, NO. He is gone:hit. He was to be my only blue copper marans breeder this spring:(. He was shipped all the way from California. Gone.

Sencond bad thing.....we were at a party at the neighbors, hubby said his leg was numb (neuropathy), then for whatever reason, he immediately tried to stand up:barnie. Not sure why he didn't warn me, but if it weren't for the 3 people that grabbed him, he was headed face first for the picnic table and concrete-all 340 lbs. So thankful they were there to help. And that we are not sitting at the hospital right now. Hubby was super embarrassed and wanted to leave right after. Which we did. He just kept apologizing to me and DD. I tried to reassure him that it was not embarrassing to us, and that we are all just happy he didn't fall.

If I had an extra blue Marans cockerel, I'd sure try to get him to you. I have a black copper, but he's really not that great quality.

I feel for you---normally, you'd be doing the happy dance that a predator took a cockerel instead of a pullet, right? But it had to be THAT cockerel-----sheesh.

Poor Hubby. It's so embarrasing to be the one that does things like that. Really glad he didn't fall, that would have been way worse.

Howdy.... I'm really having a hard time with the breathing tonight. I need to go into the hospital but not having insurance keeps me from going. Trying to hold out til Monday when I hsve to go into the VA clinic for labs. I've thrown some extra prednisone at it but it doesn't really seem to be doing much. This little cold is really turned into a big deal I'm so glad I don't get very many of them. Hope everyone is doing okay I'll check in with you later...... Phil

Oh, Phil, I am sorry and I completely understand the concern over the lack of insurance, but please, please, please do not delay too much -

Oh, no, I am so sorry - of all the birds to be taken it just had to be that one, eh? Your poor DH - I hate that he is taking it so to heart when it was something so beyond his control.

Phil....how do you not have insurance?!?

If the prednisone and nebs, whatever, don't work, get yourself in. A dead Phil won't help anyone, either.

Phil, hope this morning is going better for you but if not...get to the hospital!

Outpost, so sorry about your cockerel. Hang in there with the job.

OGM, we're glad we moved but can't say we're settled yet, lol. We've been working crazy long hours all summer but come winter, things will be a lot slower. I'm closer to family now too, like you. Kind of nice!
