My leukemia's back.

@Blooie. Has anyone thought of a zipline? If not, I win! :D I'm scared to death of heights, but I would consider ziplining someday. I could have a heart attack in the chair though.....but we all have to die somehow right?

Still living with DH. Just no love. He's still preaching to me about how the devil is coming thru me & breaking us apart & I am letting the devil win. In the same breath, tells me he is probably dropping out of the class (that he has been to twice now). Says its just not helping him. But he is going to continue with the Monday classes. I am going to continue saving money.....if humanly possible and looking for a place and a good lawyer.

Ah, yes, the guilt trip. Classic tactic of the abuser; denial - typical behavior of the substance abuser "it's not my problem, you're the one with the problem." Honey, whether you stay with him or whether this is the end, the only way it's going to get better is for him to own the problem, and recognize his responsibility and the part he plays in creating the problem. Hang in there, gal.

Save as much money as you can and get referrals for the lawyer (I didn't do that and got a really bad 1st atty). Don't let him get you to believing you are the problem!

x2, for things to get better he has to take responsibility for his actions.

You take care of yourself Outpost

Absolutely, and he just isn't there yet - whether he ever will be is up to him. All you can do in the meantime, @Outpost JWB is to continue to be sure you look out for you and your DD's interests. Stay strong, and in the moments you need some extra strength or support you can always find it here!

It actually wasn't too bad. I had them all plucked. I've started using the poultry shears and splitting the bird up the front. Just open, cut around the vent and the tail bone, and everything just kind of scoops out. Makes it easy peasy to get the lungs out, and just a bit of knife work to separate membranes, etc from the rib area. Then part them out, into the big pot in salted water and out to the extra fridge for a few days.

Awesome!
Blooie- What about a zip line type apparatus using a seat hammock using block and tackle to slide her across the line? Man, I wish I could post a picture of one of those single seat type hammocks that you hang from a 2x4 and then a gently sloped line on a pulley!
Went to the job interview and it seemed to go well so now to see if I get called back. Wait and see.... Meantime I just ordered a screen after waiting for one and dd saying "Oh, well, I didn't order you one because I couldn't figure out how to pay for it.'' '

Meantime I have open job postings with application deadlines! Mine also does not plug into another screen or monitor either.
Looks like my girls are safe for now in their current home! What a relief. But do have a possible back up if needed. Thank you God!
Love the zipline idea...
Hope you hear something back soon -- I swear, it's the worst part of the job search (there myself at the moment and starting to feel a bit discouraged)
I"m seeing it now---a "Reality" show, where they have different teams compete to Find the Best Way to Get Kendra in the House. You'd have the Redneck Guy team, the Mommy team, the Therapist team, and a team of British guys, who no one could figure out exactly why they were there
roll.png
They'd rig life size/weight models of Kendra and experiment with them.....anyone else watch Bones? I'm thinking back when Hodges et al ran the frozen pig through the woodchipper......maybe not a woodchipper but I see Kendra models hurtling through the air, hummingbirds frantically trying to get out of the way....chickens in the run rolling their eyes......and then Ken and Katie would come up with a simple, genius, basically free idea and win the whole shebang

Phil, glad to hear from you, buddy!!  Take what you can get when you can get it, right?

:frow..... Sorry guys I'm too busy to hang around much thought now.... But winter is fast approaching... I'll have lots of time then.
Who said that?  :smack to them.....

unless of course it was The Princess, in which case I'm sure she had a very good reason and you are now very sorry.

Funny thing is, you all don't know how much I've been on the phone with The Med Dose Nurse at the clinic-----but not "those" kind of meds lol. Just my immune suppressants. Maybe I need to look into something else. I swear, this prednisone is making me crazy. Probably a good thing I'm not working. I'll just stay at home, mutter to myself, post weird things on the Interwebz, and butcher poor helpless roosters. Speaking of which, I decided to do 4 today. I have them plucked, but it started raining so I brought them inside to gut and finish. Taking a quick break to rest the hands and get something to eat (Prednisone, of course I want something to eat).

Today is also Hatch Day, I have 8 baby chicks so far! I'll try to post a pic after I'm done with the roosters. They're just a random mix of eggs, so i have different colors, very cute!

You know you could just get some brownies from one of your grower neighbors....... Then come here and post even funnier things..... :lau

Outpost, continuing to pray for you and your family. Focus on your relationship with God, then yourself and your DD. Everything else will work out.

Went to the poultry seminar yesterday. It was good, but not really focused on backyard folks. More for folks who are wanting to get into smaller commercial production. But still some good thing about nutrition and general management. And, I learned the folks at the Oregon Dept of Ag are really nice folks. Not punitive at all, if you're doing something wrong they honestly want to help you fix it, not cite or mess with you. Not always your typical governmental attitude, so that was nice!

Morning all!

Today will basically be a "clean all the animals' stuff" day. There are worse things, right?

I have three clutches of chicks about 2 months old. With the time and effort it took to butcher those roosters last week, I'd just decided to start culling them young and not worry about butchering.

But then, last night, I realized I'm going to want a replacement for Tom next spring....so that means keeping probably a few to choose from. I guess I'll have to decide what I want color-wise, and pick out a few to grow out.

I don't like the idea of culling chicks, they're so small and cute and it's hard to get past. Put doing 4 roosters in one day literally wiped me out for the rest of the day, and even the next day I wasn't much good hand-wise. Plus, these are layer bred birds, so there's really not much meat there. I'm going to have to just put on the big girl panties and get over it.

4 more roosters in the grow out pen. None of them are really potential keepers, but they all seem pretty light weight. I'll maybe wait a few more weeks, but I'm really wanting that pen space! I'm trying to pick up a few Delaware hens today......that's another breeding project, of course.

Good morning everyone!

Rachel, anything new on the home selling/home buying projects?
