My leukemia's back.

Sending out a prayer for you Phil. Hope you get to feeling better.
60?!? I'm praying for you and anyone you have to interact with  . Bless your heart. Well, it usually does the job, no matter how much we hate it. I had a chest CT done on Friday, trying to see if there's something else going on they can treat. Got two roosters butchered yesterday, and going to sell off 8-10 pullets/hens this afternoon. this week I'll work on getting the rest of the cockerels dispatched and setting up breeding pens.
We went to our new home group at church last night. It was a nice time, got to meet some new folks and I think it's going to be a good thing for us. But....after we each shared a bit about ourselves, and of course I mentioned the leukemia, the host took me aside and showed me pictures of his son that died of leukemia. It really hit me. It's been my mantra all through this "Thank you Lord it's me, and not one of my kids". I simply can't imagine. I know there are folks here who have lost children to various causes, and I'm saying prayers for you all today. We expect to lose our parents, and we know spouses and siblings are kind of a 50/50 thing, but kiddos just aren't supposed to go first. So, starting the day off kind of, well, subdued I guess. On the flip side, if you want to freak out your teenage boys, come home and just bearhug them and try not to cry. They'll really get confused :p
Morning Rachel and everyone. Rachel, I'm glad you shared your leukemia trial with the new group...it gave your host a chance to share his son with you. One of the worst things I've ever gone through was watching my parents try to deal with my sister's sudden death in 2001 (it was due to blood clots). For a parent to go through that horror is unimaginable, unless it happens. You gave him a chance to share with you and it gave him an opportunity to talk about his child. Too many people don't know what to say and so say nothing at all. We truly don't know what we have until it's gone. Hug those boys and confuse them all you want.
Phil, lifting you up to the throne room. Praying God's comfort and healing hand on you. Rachel. There's nothing more awesome than the power of a small group that grows and shares God's word together. We've been in so many small groups, and the lifetime friendship and sharing is impossible to describe if you've not actually experienced it. Enjoy the fellowship.
Hope you all have a great day!
Thanks friends.... Yeah the prednisone is giving me fits. Started my Valentines day with an argument..... And now a heartfelt apology. Prednisone got to love/hate it. Hope everyone has a great Valentines day...... :frow

So for Valentines dinner.... I plan on grilling bacon wrapped tenderloin...... Grilled on a Himalayan Salt slab. Maple glazed carrots...... Garlic mashed potatoes.

Okay my wife scoffed at maple glazed carrots.... (i love em)..... Any ideas for a fancy vegetable?

Well, I happen to LOVE roasted brussels sprouts.....but with the steaks being wrapped in bacon and then grilled on a salt slab, that might just be too much salt.....is the carrots she has the problem with or the glaze? I love carrots, but not glazed - in fact, I don't even like maple on ANYTHING. I do like the idea of something a little sweeter with so much savory, and carrots of any kind would sure do that.

Nice of you to make a special dinner Phil! How about grilled asparagus?

oh Blooie.... I'm in the middle of Maple country..... Nothing big the real thing here too..... My kids were here visiting and I have him money to pick up maple syrup. He came back with "fake name brand syrup" he said it was good enough and had saved me a bunch of money. I threw the bottle out and drove to the store and bought the real thing...... I didn't want to pay for flavored sugar water. (i know corn syrup)

I love brussel sprouts too!!!!!

Oh yeah Asparagus..... That's a good one..... Him now I'm hungry.

I feel the same way about syrup Phil...they can keep that flavored water, give me the real deal!

When I cook carrots, i put a dollop of butter, some brown sugar and some nutmeg in the water. How bout roasted zucchini? I'll take just about any veggie I can get my hands on, except for okra. Roasted baby green beans? Fresh garden salad? With berries, or crunchy apple instead of tomatoes... a nice drizzle of balsamic dressing...
